About Us

Captain Barry Sawyer was born and raised on the Outer Banks and has been charter fishing since he was a teenager. He started as a mate on an inshore boat at 12 years old. Eventually he had a chance to run a charter boat from Oregon Inlet.

Over the years, after running a few other boats he decided to buy his own. Barry purchased the first First Crack in 1990. He ran this boat until 1995 when he purchased his second boat which he sold and had the current First Crack built in 2003. With over 35 years in the charter fishing business, Captain Barry has the knowledge and professionalism to make your trip a successful one. Captain Barry welcomes you up on the bridge with him during the day.
